4 RATE OF CONSTRUCTION. By TaUErapn—Prssa Associatlon-Copyrlehl Berlin, August 14. Tho construction of three sister battleships for the German Navy occupied thirty-one and a half to thirty three and a half months apiece. This discounts the German officinl assertion that tho building of these battleships took from thirty-six to forty months, when replying to statements made in the English Parliament with regard to the acceleration of German building.
The building period of the first four German Dreadnoughts in months was ns follows:—Nassau, 40; Westfalcn and BheinltmJ, 37; Posen, 38. Mr. Alan Burgoync, editor of tho ''Navj- League Annual," in a statement published in June last pointel out that speed in construction is still in favour of the British. Empire- As vill be seen from the following table of the average number of months occupied from laying down to launch and from laying down to completion of a Dreadnought, this country is far ahead of other nations in this respect:— .
