Poultry fanciers, to Ihe number cf about 30 atlomled a meeting of the Wellington Poultry Association, held at Piehards's 11'nl.l, Cuba Street. last evenins;. Mr. D. Murphy presided. Mr. 1!. \V. Thompson, of Auckland, president of the Xorlh Island Poultry Association, was prc-ent, and addressed the meeting at length regarding various poultry shows which he had visilcd recently! Tho most, successful s-how had been' that held in Dnncdiu, and ho attributed ils sueee.-s to (he I'acl that, the southern association held it at: the same time as the winter show, lie was of opinion that, the general condition of aft'airs in Ihe Xortli Island were good, but ho could not say the same for the South. At present there was a certain amount of discontent in evidence, and until this disappeared (here was not likely to Ire any advancement. At tho conclusion of hi.s address, Mr. Thompson stated that lie would give a trophy, valued at two guineas, lo Iho best plain-headed Norwich uon-colour-frd canary at the next slww held in Wellington. A suggestion was received from (ho ■Wellington Canary Club flating lliat that body thought that. it. would be advisablo for Iho Wellington Club lo affiliate with the Wellington Poultry Assreiation, the idea being that tho canary championship show should bo held in Wellington at the same time as the Wellington Poultry bhoiv nest year.
