NAVY LEAGUE.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tho Wellington branch of the Navy League was held ye.-v----terday afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. J. B. Rarcoiirt. presiding. About thirty iliembers were present. The annual report and balance-sheet, as already published, were adopted, on the motion of the chairman, who also s*aid that whatever success tho re had been in connection with the branch had been duo to the energy, of the .secretary, Mr. C. W. Palmer. Hi did not know what tlio branch would do without Mr. Palmer. . On tho motion of Mr. 6. Shirtcliffo, seconded by. Mr. J. M. Butt, the following officers were re-elected: —President, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.; vice-presidents, Mrs. S. A. Rhodes, Mr. W 111. Eraser, M.P., Sir ,T. G. Findlay, K.C.M.G.. K.C., Messrs. J. G. \V. Aitken, G. Sliirtcliffe, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., J. P. Firth, J. B. Ilarcourt, and ,Ilon. T. Hislop; hon. secretary, Mr. C. W. Palmer; assistant lion, secretary, .Mr. If. Darrooh; lion, treasurer, Mr.-J. M. Butt: assistant hon. treasurer, Mr. Oscar Borer; hon. auditor, Mr. E. R. Dymock; committee,-Mr. J. B. Harcourt (chairman), Mr. E. J. Le Grove, Col. G. P. C. Campbell,- V.D., Mr. R. Darroch, Mr. J. M. Both Messrs. Sliirtcliffe and Butt referral 'enthusiastically- to the work which Mr. Palmer "had done on behalf of the branch. . Mention was also, juado. of, tho. excellent'service'of-the auditor, Mr. E. It, Dymock, . Mr. Palmer, in acknowledging tho kind remarks regarding himself, said it had been a great pleasure to carry 011 tho work of the branch-, especially in view of the kfonncss of the juvenile element. Had he been relying altogether upon the adults, ho was afraid the branch would scarcely have bsen as successful as it. had been. Considerable demands were made upon their funds for remits'to London to pay for the literature that eamo to hand, and unless they liad enthusiasm it would be n poor look, out for tho Wellington branch. Mr. Palmer also announced that the annual public gathering would bo held shortly in the Town Hall.
