KIRKCALDIE & STAINS, Limited. A Gte&t Exposition, of Spring and Sttmmet. Mbltimty* A DISPLAY IMPRESSIVE IN ITS EXCELLENCE AND COMPLETENESS. MODELS FROM PARIS AND LONDON, REFLECTING THE ' AUTHORITATIVE STYLES OF THE SEASON. There is a radiant charm about the NEW MILLINERY that "will appeal to women folk. The variations in the shapes arc not so striking as the daring innovation of colour effects. It is a season 6f> colour—rich, bright, radiant colour, and yet so artistic is the 'effect produced by the combinations, that one is involuntarily, betrayed into expressions of delight. Really in uo previous season have wo had such fascinatingly beautiful colours as arc to be seen this season. I : " A plethora of blue in every sha do threatened to become the dominant feature, but this fancy quickly yielded, and , fortunately so, for wo have a. choice of green, red,,rose, violet, purple, cerise, champagne, ■stone, lemon, yellow, mandarin, toniato red, nattier blue, parino violet, tho delicato tints of orchid, mauve, indescribable shades of green, yellow, and coppery bronze, and' all the newest of opalescent effects. And, as tho French say, tho colours are "mixedly married." Somehow or other nothing seems too incongruous to be successful. Tho grand mothers would have been shocked ,at the bare thought of a mixture of ' mustard yellow and poacock blue, and yet such daring combinations are to bo seen, and they aro decidedly fetching. ■•:..' . ~ • ' Some of the favourite flowers of the season aro orchids, roses, the , tiger lily, passion flower, tulip, iris, and poppy, all in different shades, some very bright in colours, and others shaded- and equally offective. Toques are composed almost entire ly of flowers. Picture 'Hats with sweep ing feathers in both large and small shapes are to be worn, and there is nothing eccentric or exaggerated in any of the models. In all Dressy Hats large and small touches of pink and rose in various shades are cleverly introduced. The new Round Hats aro tall, and are made to appear taller than they are with a crowning of aigrettes, clusters of feathers, sprays of flowers, and ribbon loops. Among theso Round Hats ore straight-sided, deep dish-shaped styles with tiny brim turning up ever so little ali round. Of this shape is a model of fine White Straw, the brim turns over with Black Straw, and 'is trimmed with a small stiffly-tied bow of bldck silk, which.holds the stem of a tall white aigrette. Another model, like a big thimble, is of White Straw, trimmed with a band of silk straps half-way up the crown, and-supporting .a cluster of white ostrich feathers: There are also many varieties of tho Napoleon shape, either simply trimmed with a bunch of roses set on oiic side, or with ostrich feathers. One very elegant model is a Large Black Picture Hat in Tagal Straw, with a band of rose point and one largo white ostrich plume. Another Largo Hat is in White.Tagal Straw, with a plateau of fine black Spanish laco, with, a bunch of .poppies, cornflowers, and wheat picturesquely set. A Medium-sized Hat, in White Tagal.. Straw, is lined with black velvet and finished with a mount of beautiful French roses in tones of pink and, cerise. ■ Among the other Hats shown is a White Tagal Pierrot, lined black satin, and trimmed with a strip of *• appliqued braid, finished with an'upstanding mount of black and white wings. Royal Blue Tagal Straw, lined with cerise ami blue shot tulle, band of straw appliqued round crown and side, and finished. with a high bunch of French flowers, convolvuln s and- roses in exquisite shades of Royal blue and cerise. Green Tagal Straw, trimmed with iria in lovely shades of mustard yellow,'mauve and plum, and finished -with tulle to tone. Putty Tagal Straw lined with laco to tone, edged black, trimmed vieux rose ribbon velvet, and finished with huge 'bunch of vieux rose to cerise aud mauve tulips. Putty Laco Tagal, lined with black velvet, trimmed with, laco to tone, and huge bunch of pansies and mignonette. Black Fine Chip Hat, trimmed black ' ribbon velvet and massive bunch of fuchsias in their natural colours. "KIRKCALDIE &' STAINS/ Limited.
