MANAWATU CLUB. On Saturday the Manawatu Golf Club played oft the second challenge which they havo received for (lie Wilson Cup since they regained possession from the Napier. Golf Club. This time a really strong team of six players canio down from Dannovirke. Tlio local men only lost one gamo and halved one match, thus winning by four games to one. and retaining tho cup. In the second qualifying round for the championship, Ryeman put in the best card of 80. The following qualified :- Siefert, IG9; A. Barraud, 171 j S. Ryoman, 177; W. Strang. 177; P. M'Hardy, 183; H. Cooper, 185; H. L. Young, 185. A Stodman, 188, and J. Stack, 188, play off for eighth place. In the junior challenge cup the following qualified:—lt. Moore, 200; D. Reid, 20J; J. Stack, 208; JI. Waldegrave, 213; W. L. Fitzherbart, 2U; G. Lyons, 221; C. S. Elliott, 225. C. Smith, 22G, and L. J. M. Collins, 226, play off for eighth place. A great number of players from other clubs have signified their intention to take part in the local tournament commencing on August 29, and great interest will be given to the tournament by the fact that Arthur Duncan is almost certain to take part in it. If Duncan comes, tho present New Zealand champion (Wood, of Christchurch) intends to meot him, while Lusk, of Christchurch, Burns, of Auckland, and Kurepo, of Napier, are all keen to bo there. THE RANFURLV CUP. In the R-anfurly Cup (mon's foursomes) competition at the Heretaunga links ou Saturday, the winners wero Messrs. Pike and Lees, who finished 2 down, their handicap was 7. The second pair were Messrs. Gore and Boss.
