POTATOES UNDER STRAW.
A farmer at Bpringdale, near Tomora, Mr. Amos Crisp, has obtained surprisingly good results during tho past couple of years in growing potatoes under straw, says "Dalgety's lieview." Last year the tubers were planted an inch under ground, and covered with straw to a depth of about ten inches. ,The result was a heavy crop of potatoes, some weighing as much as lib. each. The straw protects the plants when young from late frosts and they do with far. less water than when gfov/u in open land, besides being less trouble. The straw keeps the ground very moist. .'■ .' '"-
