Tho Keniinglun Typewriter Company, which has initiated speed examinations amongst Jiomingtou. operators,) held its first examination last week, and though tho competitors were-not very numerous, thero is no doubt that the examinations will/become very; popular in time, and will certainly'do a'grcat."deal in tho way of improving tho oilicicney and accuracy of Candida'.!*.- ■ The-company's decision to promote these examinations is au excellent example of -progressiveness. At Home and abroad hundreds of candidates sit for -these, examinations. To make them attractive in Wellington, the firm offered very good prizes for the two successful r-.uididiilrs in the recent examination, which comprised speed, straight corrected ami figure copv. l-'otir candidates deserve | praise lor their excellent iwpers. viz.: Misses Quimiey and Houhler, ami Messrs.. Hunt and Andrews, which were very commendable, and. almvo the standard. Tho first prize has been allotted to Miss Ouinnoy, and the second prize to Mr. Hunt, boih in Government employment.
