According to all accounts, Glonmore was most unluckv in the Hunt Club Cup on Thursday. His rider, Flynn, was subsequently 'hurt when Centaur fell with him, and so it has been decided to put up If. Grav on Mr. H. J. Cameron's horse in the opening event to-iloy. Early in the week. .T. Had it not been for I his, he might liavo beaten Undecided. He will be a starter in tlio Heathcole Handicap 10-cluy, aud will uo ridden by F. D. Junes. W. Ryan left for Sydney yesterday, and will remain (here until after tho Australian Jockey Club's meeting. The. Trcnfham jockey is to ride Bobrikoff in his Randwick engagements. Sabine, who failed badly in the Hunters' Hurdles on the first day at Riccarton, will be a starter in the Hack Hurdles to-day, and will bo ridden by R. Thompson. Continuance is not likely to start in the Sydenham Hurdle race to-day. St. Aidan, who appears to bo coming on with every gallop, is to bo a runner, as also will Windage, who was out in front with Continuance on Thursday, when he punched a fence, and got rid of his rider. When ono closely examines the field which is carded to run in the Lincoln Steeples to-day, it appears to bo a very weak ono that will opposo Corazon. Tho TiinneT-up in the Grand National has suffered no ill effects from the race, and, on tho track yesterday, he was as lively as a kitten. AVith Antarctic and Pari'tutu absent, his task should not bo a hard one. Boanerges is in a much higher class than tho horses which lie is meeting today in the Sehvyn Handicap, and, dospite his big weight, he should hold his own. He was pulling a lot on Thursday, but, to-day, with liis increased weight, may run more kindly, and, consequently, will finish better. Mr. W. Wood, who is to ride Hawick in tho Hunters' Plato at Riccarton today, only scales about Sst. 91b., so' that it will be necessary to put up about sst. dead weight. This is not likely to assist tho Bulls horse.
Wimmera was shipped to Sydney last evening. Merci, a half-sister to Shuja and Somersault, died in Auckland last week, It is anticipated that Trafalgar- and Comedy King will meet for ' the first time this season at tho A.J.C. Spring meeting. J. Sceats, the well-known horseman, who for some time has been located in the Hawke's Bay district, has returned to Auckland, and is at present attached to C. Coleman's stable. Mr. 'F. Leslie returned from Sydney on Sundav, but left his horses behind, and intends returning to Australia for tho Spring meeting. Tho committee of tho Auckland Racing Club has made some alteration in tho stewards for the coming season, Messrs. F. Earl, O. Nicholson, and N. A. Nathan replacing "Messrs. W. D. Holgate, J. Coe, and E. D. O'Rorke. Tho Australian Steeplechase will bo run at Caulfield this afternoon, and, if the top-weight, Grafnax, goes to tho post, his meeting with Confide, winner of tho V.11.C. Grand National Steeples, will bo full of interest. Last year Grafnax won tho Australian Steeplechase with. 12st. 121b. in tho saddle.
