i FORECAST AND SUMMARY. Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly and southerly winds, squally at times in Cook and Foveaus Straits. Changeable and showery conditions probable generally. Barometric pressure unsteady, but with a rising tendency soon. The barometer has- fallen slightly, with moderate to Strom; westerly winds genorally, but squally in Fovcaux Strait. Rain has fallen on many parts of the West Coast of both, islands, and cool and changeable weather, has prevailed. :D. 0. BATES. Meteorological Office, Wellington, • August 11, 1911. Palmerston, August 11— Fine and bright all day. Otaki, August 11.—Sunshine. Carterton, August 11—A frost was experienced this morning, and a fino day followed. There are indications of another frost to-night. Grcytown. August 11.—To-day opened with a sharp frost, after which a beautiful day was experienced. The snow on the Tararuas formed a. rather striking sight, but made the atmosphere very keen. Feathorston, August 11.-Frosty morning; bright, fino day. Hastings, August 11.—To-day has been chilly, but clear—a typical winter day.
