Wedding at Eketahuna. n A )™ ,<lin 3 of interest was celebrated at tho Church of tho Sacred Heart, Eketahuna, on Wednesday, the 9th instant, when Mr. P. S. Carroll, of Waipukurau, second son of Mr. V. Carroll, of Westport, was married to Miss Jenny Louise Anderson, second daughter of Mr. A. Anderson, of Eketahuna, one of tho old and respected residents of flie' district. Tho church was decorated with wattles bv the friends of the bride, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dean M'Kouna, of Mastertou. Tho brido was given away by her father, and wore a gown of whito cliarmeuso satin, with a court train of lace, with satin fringe, and the usual veil and orange, blossoms. Sho carried a basket of violets and snowdrops, decorated with maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Miss Alice Anderson (sister of tho bride), and Miss Grace Dixon (Wellington) wore saxo blue velvet frocks and pretty black picture hats. They each carried a staff of white (lowers with satin streamers. Mr. P. Anderson (brother of tho bride) attended the bridegroom as best man, and Messrs. Albert and Wilky Anderson as groomsmen. The bridegroom's gift to tho brido was a gold necklet and cross, and to the bridesmaids were given gold and pearl broaches. After the ceremony about 70 guests wero entertained at a wedding breakfast at the home of tho bride's parents, "Glenara," the usual toasts being honoured. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll ■ left for tho south by the express train, where tho honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling-dress was a becoming costume of grey tweed; beautifully braided, and sho wore a burnt straw hat, I rimmed with saxo blue, wheat, and poppies. Mrs, Anderson, mother of tho bride, wore a grey tailor-made costume and toque trimmed with roses; Miss Anderson, a grey velvet tunic costume. Among those present were: Mesdames Fallover (Wellington), Mrs. Carrol (Westport), Mrs. Hoar (Mastertou), Mrs. Dixon (Wellington), Mesdames Page, Seymour, Burt, Fish, Nelson, Nilsson, Neilson, Ball, Walke, Small, Misses Tumor, Lewis (Wellington), Nilsson, Walker, Heckler, 1.0 Lievre, and Messrs. Fallovor (Wellington), Cassin (Hastings), Vernon Smith (Dannevirke), Page, Prendevillc, Fish, Small, Hacklcr. Ball, 3. Nilsson, P. Ncilscn, Dixon, Seymour! Carroll, and Thomson. Pctone Wedding.. On Thursday afternoon, at the Petone Wesleyan Church, Miss Elsie Godber-sc-cond daughter of the late Mr. E. Godber and Mrs. F.'Lockwood. of Pctone—. was married to Mr. J. Ncwell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Newall, also of Petone. The officiating clergyman was tho Rev. F. Rands. The bride; who ■ was given away by her stepfather (Mr. F. Lock l wood), wore a satm-striped dclaino frock trimmed with lace insertion. A wreath oud bridal veil were also worn, and she carried a bouquet „of freesias and white iris. Shs was attended by her sister, Miss Ethel .Godber, who wore whito embroidered muslin trimmed with lace, and a black hat. Mr. S. Bland was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at tho residence of tho bride's mother, in Bay Street. The Sunshine Guild. A very successful entertainment, organised by "the Sunshine Guild, was held in St. Thomas's Infant Schoolroom last evening. Members were anxious to raise the sum of at least £o for a very kindly purpose and, judging by the number of people present, there was every probability of that sum and move being realised. Songs, recitations, tableaux, and a little "Sunshine" play made up tho programme, most, if not all, of those assisting bping members of tho guild. Songs were given by Miss Rash, Miss Sarlc. Mr, Cook, and Mr. Marshall, an a duet by Miss Barnard and Marshall. Miss Talbot' recited and an Irish jig was delightfully danced by a small maiden in costume. A dialogue from "Helen's Babies," a clubswinging exhibition, and a fairy play written bv Miss Joyo Akers and performed by a band of "Sunbeams," completed an entertainment that was enjoyed. Miss C. Butts had an exceedingly busy time as stage-manager—a task which, in amateur performances, calls for much ingenuity. Mr. Arthur Wiggins was (lie pianist of the evening. Mrs. Wilford also gave a brief address concerning the work of the guild.

A musical "At Borne," in connection with the To l'nui Club of the Young Women's Christian Association, will be hold this afternoon in (he club rooms, Herbert Street at 3 o'clock, A very interesting programme- has been arranged, and a good attendance of members and their friends is expected. Afternoon tea will l>o provided and a very pleasant afternoon is in store for visitors. Tho "At Homo" is in aid of a piano fund. Hiss Mary Hall was a passenger yesterday by the Sydney boat. She is en route for England. Mr. and .Air's. H. D. Baker left for Sydney by the Moerald yesterday. Mrs.' Godley has returned from a visit lo the south. . Last evening a ball, given bv several Lower Valley ladies, was held in'tlic Town Hall at Featherston, visitors being present from all parts of the Wairarapa. The committee was formed bv Mcsdames J Bidwill, W. Barton, W. Bi'dwill, G. Hume, W. Hume, A. Matthews, M'Dougnll, W. Martin, A. Martin, 1\ Mouckt'on, and 11. Warren. A quiet wedding took place in Pahintua on Thursday afternoon, when Mr. H. T. Service, of I'nhiatna, and Miss Evelyn Pose, daughter of Mr. J. B. Hose, 'of Mangatainoka, were married. ■ The bride was given away by lier father, and was attended by Miss Alice and Miss AnniePose as bridesmaids. The duties of best man woro performed by Mr. Gordon Rose.
