A peculiar accident happened yesterday afternoon, during the progress of a scratch match between the members ot the mounted corps in camp on the showgrounds and tho otter companies. Wilson in the chair. It was decided to pay tho subsidy promised to St. John Ambulance Association, and to send a monthly list of infectious diseases cases to the Borough Council. It was reported that 1 tuo Treasury had paid subsidy to the amount of £1119 18s., that u bequest of £105 had been received from the estate of the lateJ. Martin, Peach, and Putnam wsre reappointed hospital surgeon*. Tho secretary Teuurted that there wero twelve cases of scarlet fever, and threa of diphtheria in the hospital at the present lime.

Over £i\) was realised at the bazaar held on Wednesday in aid of St. l'eter's Sunday Schoolroom fund. This result is considered highly satisfactory. "Impromptu speeches" formed the programme at the weekly meeting of the local Literary and Debating Society last night. There was a good attendance, and an interesting evening was spent, many subjecls being dealt with. Mabel Crook, Beatrice Cunningham, M'Lean, and Winifred Maud Stronach. Nurse Margaret M. Daw was also entitled to a medal and certificate, but, being ill, these were handed to the matron to present to her. At n mealing of the Friendly Societies' Council last night, Bros, Alimali, Kennedy, and Pags were appointed trustees in connection with the Friendly Societies' dispensary. Consideration 'of holding a combined Friendly Socielies' service and the annual picnic were held over till next meeting. It was decided to forward the rnles in crnncctinn with tho dispensary to the.
