Mr. Fowlds, in his reply, showed no disposition to modiiy his proposals in response- to the protests which had come throughout tho debate from all sides of the House against the giving of large additional powers to the Govcrnor-in-Council, and to certain Civil Servants, and against allowing loans for town-plan-ning to be raised without consultation of the ratepayers. . The minor business, of tho day included tho first reading of the Wanganui River Bridge Bill, and the third reading of the Wanganui School Sites Amendment Bill.
