Councillor Godber at the Cily Council Inst evening expressed tho pleasure the councillors iclt at seeing tho Mayor, Mr. 'J.'. Willord, onco again in his seat alter his illness. They hail i'elt every sympathy for him iu his illness, and it was wiili very great delight, indeed, that they saw him now restored to health. Councillor J. Smith (late. acting-Mayor) also expressed the pleasure of the council at :voing Mr. Willord bade again. Mr. Wilford, in rallying and thanking the council for its kiiui expressions of feeling, also voiced his gratitude for the way the duties he had had to lay aside had been earned out.
Mr. Alexander Macdougall, J.P., a wellknown resident oi' Wellington, who is at present lying seriously ill at a private hospital in the city, was reported last night to bo slightly better. The interment of the late Mr. F. Brady, sen., of Mulgmvo Street, took placo at J'iiliautanm cemetery yesterday, and was very largely attended. Tho obsequies were conducted by the Hcv. F. H. l'etric, while ;imoH2 those who paid their last resects to tho deceased gentleman were Messrs. Lynch, 'Galloway, Atkinson, and M'Mun"avin' (representin'' the Hull County Council); Mr. G. L. Stewart , (Wellington Education Board); Dr. llasscll and Dr. Kobinson, Messrs. A. dr B. Brandon and \V. 11. Field, M.l'.j Father Lane, Mr. Geo. Hunt (Nelson), and Major Tatuni. A large number of local residents were also present. Mr. Tisch, Mayor of New Plymouth, who underwent a serious operation twelve davs ago, and had progressed fairly well, had a relapse early yesterday morning, and passed away about nine o clock, aged 58 years.—Press Association. Ruapeliu is auout to lose ono of its best-known friends and admirers, in the person of Mr. G. H. Snow, of Kangataiia, who during the past few years has acted as a guidtf to the- mountain top ami its area*. It is Mr. Snow's intention to settle in Mosjll Bay, near Cap?
