POTATO FAMINE.
EXPERIMENTS IN PERTH. By TetecraDh-l'ress Assoeiation-Oonnlrtl (Roc. August 9, 9.15 p.m.) / Perth, August 9. The Government experiment in connection with tho potato famine, of importing potatoes aud'pceling them in bond with a viow to prevent the spread of blight, has resulted in the reduction of tho retail price from l|d. per lb to 2}d. per lb. Peeling departments have been established in tho country towns.
