A further game was played in connection with tho Carterton United Friendly Societies' card tournament on Monday night, when Oddfellows defeated Druids by 26 fames to 15. The funeral of the late Mr. Frank Leonard Spicer took place at the Clafeville Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The epidemic of measles has spread to Belvedere School, and, on Monday, out of a roll number of 58, only 22 scholars attended. Tho local tent of the Independent Order of Reehabitcs has decided to forward a letter of condolence to the relatives of tho late Mr. F. H. Fraser, of Wellington, who for many years was district secretary to the order. Inspector Miller, of tho Health Department, paid an official' visit to a number of places in tho borough on Tuesday. Mr. B. Roberts (supported by the Rev. Mr.- Thompson, Messrs. Tylor, H. H. Armstrong, and 11. Hart) will represent the Carterton Literary and Debating Society in their debit to with tho Fcathorston Society. • At the fortnightly meeting of tho Totnra Lodge, U.A.0.D., on Monday evening, Bro, R. Canton, A.D., presided. Several members were reported on the "oft"' and sick funds. Oiio new member was proposed. Receipts for the meeting were JC26 10s. Sd„ and disbursements .£ll 6s. Bd.
