. FORECAST AND SUMMARY. Present indications are for easterly and northerly winds, increasing strong to gale. Hazy, unsettled, and cloudy weather will probably precede rain in all parts of the country. The barometer falling everywhere. Since Tuesday morning the barometer has fallen eight-tenths of an inch at the BIulT. and is falling everywhere. Fair weather, but with increasing cloudineea, ua3 prevailed, except about East Cape, where showery weather has continued. Moderate to strong easterly winds are reported in the north, and northerly windo increasing elsewhere. A gale being reported in Foveaux Strait to-day. D. C. BATES. Hodge nt six o'clock to-night for the previous twenty-four hours wore as follow:—Shade temp., mar., 54.6deg.; min., <o.2dcg.; mean, earth radiation, 34dcg.: earth temperature (Ift. below surface), 42.5dcg.; wind, calm. Carterton, August 9—Fine weather prevailed yesterday; indications of same continuing Grey town, August 9.—Tho weather this morning turned out sunny, hut a cold breeze blew later from the S.E. Thermometer (at 9 a.m.) read 41deg. Indications aro :now for fine weather. Fc-atherston, August 9.—Fine; bright sunshine. Hastings, August 9.—To-day tho weather has been fine, but cold.
