HARRIERS TEST.

TEAM FOR AUCKLAND CHOSEN. A race was held by the Wellington AthJeno Centre on Saturday afternoon at Miramar, for tho purpose of selecting a , Journey to Auckland to represent Wellington at the New Zealand CrossCountry Championship on Saturday next. The course selected was a little under "! lles > anfl trailed by C. Lamberg (Wellington Harriers) and C. Bevau (Brooklyn Harriers). Fourteen competitors faced the starter (Mr. W. H. Pollock). The majority of the runners being; well bunched for about half the distance, when C. Rowbcrry went to the front, and then one or two gaps wore opened up. Tho finish was as jollows:—C. Rowberrv, 1. time 2Gmin. SOscc.; F. Rowberry, *2 27sec. (both Wellington Harriers); M. Cook (Brooklyn Harriers), 27min. sscc., 3; V. Bryne (Brooklyn Harriers), 27min! 13sec., 4; F. Wilton (Wellington Harriers), 27min. 23sec., 5; F. Bryno (Brooklyn Harriers), 27min. 44sec., G; W. Press (Wellington Harriers), 27min. 50sec. The first five weTe selected as the team, with the last two as emergencies. The Wellington Club thus has three and the combination Brooklyn two. The team is a very even one, as the times show, there being only one minute's difference between the first sevon. The two Brooklyn men are the youngest members, and only started running this season, and are to be congratulated on securing places in the team. Mr. F. Wilton has been selected as manager, and the tram leaves by the Main Trunk train on Wednesday morning, and are expected to give a good account of themselves.

OTAGO'S CHOSEN ONES. (By Tclceraph—Press Association.) Dunediri, August 6. The. Otago cross-country championship was decided yesterday, tho first six places being filled by Hio following in the order named:—Beatson, Chambers. Frew, Frv, Thompson, and N'otman. The first five were Mibseriuently selected to represent Olago in the New Zealand cross-coun-try championship with Notman as emergency, but Frew has notified that lie is unablo to make the trip.
