• THE DEMOCRATIC BILL.. By Toleuraph- -Press Association—Copyright Washington, August 1. 'Die Democratic Tariff Bill, which received the support of the '"insurgent" Republican Senators, was carried by an overwhelming majority in tho House of Representatives. The Bill cuts down tho tariff on cotton manufactured goods from 43 to 27 per cent ad valorem. Tho Democrats are planning to carry a Wool Bill over the Presidential veto by securing the necessary Senatorial majority. (Rec. August G, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, August 5. The Democratic leaders state that they have secured sufficient support to enable them to secure the passing of the Wool Bill over the Presidential Veto. Conferences are being held with a view to reaching a compromise over the Bill.
