ELECTRIC TRAMS AND' RAILWAYS. By TeiecraDh—Press Association—Copyrtehi London, August 4. Sir William Lyne (New South Wales), tho Hon. J. W. Hackctt (West Australia), and Mrs. ilackctt are returning to Australia by the Orontes. The Hon. John Murray (Premier), Mr. W. L. Bailliou (Minister for Works), and Mr. R. Harper (Victoria) will go to Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Berlin on Monday, to inquire inlo tha question of electrification ol' railways. Mr. Murray has returned from Scotland and the provinces. Ho was much impressed by the raillcss electric trams attached to overhead wires at Leeds. Mr. Murray considers the system suitable for connecting the new Melbourne suburbs with the existing railways.
