AUSTRALIAN CADETS
SPEECH BY LORD ROBERTS, INSPECTION AND PRESENTATIONS. By Telecraph—Press Association—Ooyyrieht London, August 4. Field-Marshal Lord Roberts .inspected tho Australian Cadets at the Crystal Palace. Major P. N. Buckley, Australian Military Advisor in London, represented tho Commonwealth. ■Lord Roberts commended tho smartness of the cadets' uniform and their precision in handling arms. Ho presented them with Sir Charies Wakefield's cup for their shooting at Bisley, and also presented Major Wynne with a Roberts inedal for each boy, together with an autograph photo and a copy of his book "Forty-ono Years in India." Major Wynne presented Lord Roberts, on behalf of tho boys, with an inkstand made from .Broken Hill silver, and mounted on Australian hardwood. (Rec. August 0, 5.5 p.m.) London, August 5. Lord Roberts, addressing the Australian Cadets, said it was a disgrace that. Britain should be without a system such as Australia possessed. It-was absolutely essential that Britain should follow AilS-1 Vralia's example. |
