LECTURE BY MR J. CRAIGIE. M.P.

A "Robert Burns evening" ■ will bs given at St. John's Hall, Dixon Street to-night, by Mr. James Craigie, M.P., as lecturer. Tho musical contributors will be Messrs. Barr, Caldow, Newton, Pope, and Miss Rash. Mr. Craigie has earned for himself a reputation as a Burns lecturer. Tho "Timaru Herald" states: —"Mi'. James C'raigic-, M.P., is a Burns student as well as a Burns worshipper. Tho lecture which he gave before a crowded audience in the Robert Jackson-Memorial Hall recently, showed that, as a worshipper, he is sincere, and, as a student., just and discriminating. His genuine appreciation for Burns's poetry enabled him to speak of tho bard's writings, and recite his moving verses with real eloquence." Mr. Craigie offered his hcture in the interests of the lrical Presbyterian .Orphanage, and that, will no doubt command a good attendance apart from the interesing programme and lecture.
