THE CONFERENCE AT BRADFORD. The conference at Bradford opened its session 011 June 15 by offering its hearty congratulations to' King (ieorge V in a loyal resolution, carried with great enthusiasm. . The vice-presidcht led tho conlerenco in the National Anthem. Primitive Methodism is alive to the necessity of "a thoroughly trained ministry. Tho Hartley College, at Manchester, is' the largest ministerial training institution .'in tho. land. It brings nil tho training under one roof, and thereby secures economy, uniformity, and .efficiency. Principal Jones Davies explained that'there were seventy-five students in residence, all of. whom had passed tho year's examinations with credit, and many with distinction. Six were taking the arts course at the Manchester "University., jEight. menhad already graduated! (volunteered for tho mission lield at the completion of. their college, cours3., Tho missionary spirit was in 'great' evidence,. The students sent .£173 to missionary funds, ill addition to valuable assistance, in such homo mission work as that at Ancoats. Tho conference requested the College Committee during the year to. bring "in proposals for shortening tho probationary terms of students who graduated in arts.
Tlio Rev. G. Armstrong told tho conferenco tlmt ,£300,100 had bscii subscribed to the Centenary Fund. This is the largest sum the denomination has over raised for any one object. The conference greatly* rejoiced in this achievement, ami 'decided that some special recognition bo given to the great servico rendered to the movement b.v tlio Revs. CI. Armstrong and J. WeHord.
