Tho tiuo programme nt tho King's Theatre received a good reception from a well-tilled house last night, lhc chict picture was that of the Coronation, which, of course, was of special interest to all. Tho rest of tho programmo contained plenty of variety, and evidenced careful and tasteful selection. By the moil this evening "2000 feet of new Coronation films are to arrive, and those will be 011 the screen later in the evening. Pictures ot tho naval review at fepithead wi 1 be shown—the review by day, and tho illuminations at night, there will, also bo the lioyal military iirocession in Loudon, and London illuminated. lIIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Tho Coronation films arc stilt being screened at' His Majesty's Theatre and, in addition, thcro is a very interesting programme of a varied kind. Lovers of drama arc catered for in "Tho Lighthouse Keeper's Peril," and other items. A romance. of the sea, which is very well told, is called "Tho Fisher Maid. There is comedy for all, and some views of educational value are screened. "Tho llomo of British Industry" gives 0110 many i glimpses of the great industries of tho Old 1 Country. The programmo will bo repeated at "the matineo this afternoon and also this evening. NEW THEATRE. A change of programme was presented at the New Theatre yesterday, and, throughout the day and evening, the theatre was visited by largd crowds or picturo lovers. The films screened are uniformly good, comprising as they do thrilling dramatic subjects,' fine scenic films, and a number of exceedingly good "comics." "A Tough Tenderfoot" is a rather humorous study of life in a western ranch, and narrates the trials and tribulations of a visitor. "While ho is askep buckets of water aro poured on him, ho is ducked in a water trough, and has to undergo numerous other ordeal*, but he gets oven by "doping" a bottle of 'whisky. His erstwhile tormentor, whei, they recover from the effects of the drug, then learn that it is not an ordinary
"tenderfoot" whom they have to deal with, and, after giving him a final scare nor medium of half a dozen revolvers, leave him severely alpno. Ono of the most interesting scenic films which tho proprietary have screened for s'ome tiwe is that depicting various scenes around San Guilano and tho salt works in tho vicinity. Tho huge evaporation, baths are shown, and also a number of views of tho salt refinery. Sail Guilano is appaicntly a charming old town with narrow streets and quaint old houses, aud tho inhabitants are as interesting as their city. "The Little Drudgc" 4 is a pathetic story of-a poor girl's lifo, and gives one ail idea of the seamy side of life in a great city. Other pictures screened " include "The Novice Handicap on 'the PaiTamatta River," "The Winning of: Miss I.angdon," a' society drama; "Cured" (a comic story of an old gentleman and his gout), and last, but not least, a splendid view of tho Coronation procession.
NICOLA, THE MAGICIAN. This evening Messrs. J. and N. Tait will introduce Nicola, the Magician, and his company at tho Opera Houso for a limited season. Though Nicola is an entertainer new to Australasia, he has been before the publio of America and tho Conitiiicut for twenty years, and lias won fame as a magician and illusionist. Over twclvo months ago ho set out from San ■I'l'uucisco upon a tour of tho Far East and Australia, with a company of fifteen artists. Honolulu, Tokio, Shanghai, HongKong, Canton, Bombay, Calcutta, Manila, Adelaide, and Auckland have been tho principal places visited so far. From each enthusiastic reports have been receive*! as to tho merits of the combination. Although Nicola is the star of tho company, lie has , the assistance ot a large nuuiuer ui trained illusionists, and a strong combination ' of American vaudeville artists. Early door day sale tickets are now on sale at Cliristeson's, and tho box plan will bo at. the Dresden, till 12.30 to-day, and in tlie afternoon at Christeson's. THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. After a most successful season in Wellington, the Scarlet Troubadours bade farewell to their admirers at the Opera House last evening. The house was well filled, and the accomplished entertainers wero very heartily applauded throughout. TO-NIGHT'S ORGAN RECITAL. Tho weeldv organ rccital to bo given tonight in tho Town Hall by Sir. Maughan Baruett, tho city organist, will embrace a "special retjuest" programme. The prelude and fugue in D major by Bach (and anion" the most outstanding of his organ works), Schubert's "Marcho Militaire, coupled with "Am Mcer' and "Waldwoben from "Siegfried" (Wagner) arc very popular items, and are to be repeated by the desire of previous audiences. _ Herold s "Ziimpa" overture, Chopin's "Nocturne in E Fiat," and Paderewski's "Minuet in G" should be well appreciated. The prices are popular ones. SUNDAY CONCERT. To-morrow night at tho Town Hall tho AVcllinglon Professional. Orchestra, under the comlnctorship of Mr. Herbert Blo.v, will render their fifth concert of the 1011 season. Assisted by Mr. W. 11. Church (baritone), who will sing tho "Curfew (Gould), the orchestra will play the following numbers"Trot do Cavalerie (Rubin»lein); "Minuet" (Bocchenui); Barlioz March from "Damnation do Faust"; overture "Raymond" (Thomas); Schuberts "Serenade" (cornet soloist, Mr. \\. 11. Bowman); and valso from "Nutcracker Suite" (Tschaikowski). Admission will ■;« free; a silver coin collection will be made at the doors. The concert will commence at 8.30.
