Two young children, Kita Boss (aged tivo years) and William Ross (aged iivo years) were playing in tlieir parents' house, when thoy found -a bottle of belladonna, and proceeded to samplo tho lotion. The ettect was serious, and tho children became yorj ill, and. had to bo taken to tho District Hospital. ' Their condition had improved to-night, and hopes of their recovery are entertained. • A STBANGE DEATH. Dunedin, August 4. A man named Thomas Burgess, aged 62 years, died in a remarlcablo manner at Caversham to-day. He was seen leaning over a fence, the top of which was cut in zi a zag form, and when investigation was mado it was found that lio was dead. Apparently death was either due _to strangulation, or to a fit of some kind. Deceased had been"- working- m - the country and camo home on Tuesday for a holiday. . . . L- ■ J •,y :■ BOARDING A TEAMCAE. William \ Feulstick, . who resides at Poplar Grove, off Tinakori Road, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday, sufferin" from a bad injury to his right leg. It appears that he was attempting to board a tramcar, at the corner of Ingestro and Cuba Streets, when he slipped, sustaining the injury mentioned. SEEIOUS AFFAIR IN KENT-TERRACE. An expressman nainod l — Martin, was .tho victim of a rather scrious';/accidqnt._..in Kent Terrace.last night. He was dnvine along the terrace when the horse boiled, and this contretemps resulted in ilartin being thrown out, and sustaining a fracture of the base of the skull. DISLOCATED ANKLE. Whilst working in a sawmill at Wallaceville, Charles F. West slipped and dislocated one of his ankles. Ho was brought into town by tram, and admitted to tho Hospital.STRANGLED IN A SWING. Auckland, August i. A child twenty' months old, daughter of Mr. C. Lloyd, while playing with a young brother on a swing at.Karangahake! in the temporary absence of tho latter got caught in tno rope and "vras strangled.
