■U last night's meeting of the Miramnr Borough Council a letter was read from the Mirnmar Town Clerk (Mr. B. E. Bennett) stating that the City. Engineer s Department had informed him of its ineiwc of sixpence a day in the wages of its casual and permanent employees. The Karori Borough Council paid 9s. a (lav as n rule (ho continued), but somo of'tlie men got fls. fid: The Town Clerk recommended that the city's precedent l>? followed—that an increase of sixpence n day be given to all the men employed. The 'increase proposed would mean ,C 5 Ss. per week extra to OG men on the waterworks and ,C2-s. per week rxtra to the 11 men on road work. The council adouted the recommendation.
