The Friendly Societies regard Dr. A«ldi> son's amendment to tho National lnsuranco Bill—transferring the adlninistraliou of tho medical benefits from Die approved societies to local health coniiuitlccH —as an iufi'ingement of their self-management. Sir I*. Magnus (Unionist) has introduced an amendment excluding persons earning ■£104 annually from llio medical benefits. Tlio mover declared that if it Was accepted the. doctors would then co-operate loyally, Mr. Lloyd-Gcorgo resisted tho amendment, which ho said would exclude the in. dustrial population from their long-accus-tomed club and medical benefits, but he accepted Dr. Addison's amendment giving tho local health committees power to fix a salary limit beyond which the insured would have to mako their own medical arrangements. Sir Philip Magnus's amendment iral negatived.
