LETTER OF THANKS. It will bo remembered that some time ago, when Mr. Tung-liang Hwang was acting as Chineso Consul in New Zealand, he organised a relief fund for famine-stricken countrymen in An-hui and other parts of China, From the Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne Mr. Hwang now forwards a copy of a letter which he has received from Dr. Ferguson (of Shanghai), and which explains itself. It is as follows:— Central China Famine Fund Committee, 1910-11, Sin Wan Pao Building, 19 Hankow Road, / Shanghai, June 13, 1911. My dear Mr. Hwang,—Many thanks for your letter of April 28, enclosing a draft for .£2l 2s. (id.,.as final collection for tho relief of the famine districts in China. Will you please tend a note of thanks to tho New Zealand papers on behalf of our committee, thanking the Chinese and other residents for their generous contributions? As soon as our committee finishes the preparation of its report we will send you copies for distribution among the "New Zealand newspapers.— Yours sincerely, J. C. FERGUSON. Chairman.
