THE COMING ELECTIONS.

» AUCKLAND WEST. Over 30 electors of Auckland West waited upon the Mayor (Mr. C. J. Parr) at his office, Victoria Arcade Buildings, on Friday afternoon, and urged him to allow himself to be nominated for the Auckland West seat at tho forthcoming Parliamentary election.

The members of the deputation spoke in eulogistic terms of th<> valuable services rendered by Mr. Purr in various public capacities during the past six or seven years, particularly as chairman of the Auckland Education Board, and as tho Mayor of Auckland. Tho deputation undertook to obtain a requisition of u majority of the voters of the district to Air. Parr should he require it, and intimated that there was an' exceedingly btrongr feeling throughout the whole of tho electorate in favour of his candidature.

Mr. Parr said he could not help feeling that an entry into Parliamentary lite at the present juncture would entail" very considerable saorifice on his part. Ho also felt that he owed a duty to the citizen?, who had done him the honour of returning him unopposed to the Mayoralty, and of emphatically endorsing tho great scheme of city 'improvements at the recent poll, to give his first attention to tbo city. He frankly acknowledged thnt he was not ambitious just at present to enter Parliament. Tho deputation, however, representing all classes of the community, had greatly impressed r.jjn, and he would have to consider his duty very carefully in the fresh aspect presented to him. It would be necessary that he should consult his partner iitul others who were deeply interested. L<) undertook to do so. and to give the <i.-putatioa his answer shortlv.
