A MOTORMAN'S APPEAL.

The recently constituted-"Tramway Appeal Board met for the first time in Ohristchiirch this moraine in the Magistiatc's Court. Mr.- H. W. Bishop, S.M., presiding, and with him were Mr. Frank Thompson (general manager of the Tramway Board) and Mr. James- Young (secretary of the Tramway Employees' Union). Mr. T, G. Russell appeared for the Tramway Board, and Mr. W. J. Hunter for the appellant, An appeal w<is made by Joseph Bertram Graves, a inotorman, against his dismissal on June 10 as the result of o "head-on" collision between a ear driven by him and a sprinkler on the Iticcnrton line on May 27. The grounds of the appeal were that no blame was attachable to appellant, because his ciw had right of wuv. Th« rail was greasy. His view was obstructed by a cart, and he had obeyed the regulations regarding accidents, applying first and second emergency stops with sand.
