The police authorities in Ohristchureh. received a telegram to-day stating that a married'man named David Stoba,. a carpenter at Metrven, had been found dead jn his traphouse at eight o clock this morning with a shot wound in his head. A gun was lying beside him v/itli an exploded cartridge in it. He had suflercd {rem bad health lately, and borrowed tho gun from a neighbour. MATE'S DEATH ON LIZZIE TAYLOR, Captain Smith, superintendent of Mercantile Marine at Wellington, held an inquirv into the circumstancos surrounding tho 'death of Gustav Brusila, the wilor who was washed overboard from the KetCQ Lizzio Taylor whilst she was en voyage from Timaru to Wellington. After taking evidence, a verdict of accidentally drowncd with no blame attachable to anyone, was returned. Captain Peterson was credited with having done everything possible under the circumstances.
