HOCKEY.
A NORDON CUP GAME. (By Telegraph—Press Palmerston, July 2G. The Nonlon Cup match—Wairarapa v. Manawatu—provided one of the best displays of hockey ever seen in Palmerston. The gamo was fast, clean, and evenly contested, an extra spell being required to decide. the issue.
In the first half Manawatu liad a slight advantage, and landed the only goal, which was put on after a shot by Minogup, from a brilliant piece of work by Anderson. 'Wairarapa. took chargo at tho opening of the second half, but, when the. local men settled down to work, they niacin things merry. Their second goal was tho result of some hot work, in which Crump found the net. Wairarapa now livened up, and Boyd.landed a goal from a flving shot. Tho visitors then fought hard, and. amid a good deal of excitement, drew level, as tho result of a rather soft shot by Fisher. The second srell thus ended with honours even. The game was continued with unabated Tjgour. Both teams fought with great, determination, and, amid great excitement, Crump scored Manawatu'* winning goal. The local men have now to meet tho winners of the Tarnnaki-Wangonui match.
