NO WORK ON SATURDAY.
AXD A HALF-DAY ON FKIDAY. During the hearing of a. case of alleged breach of award yesterday, when a witness was giving evidence as to his working hours, Jfr. E. G. .Tellicoe remarked: "It is a. wonder they work at nil." Dr. 31' Arthur, S.M.: "I understand they don't want to work on Saturdays." To the witness: "Is that a fact?" The 'witness: "We are trying to get that." Dr. M'Arthur: "Yes; no work on Saturday; no work nn Sundry. The next thing wo will hear is n. half-day on Friday!"
