(From Our Special Correspondent.) THE IJECENT RAINS. Recent rains in the Hutt Valley havo covered most of the low-lying portions of land with as much as ISin. of water The Hutt River was swollen to 12ft above summer level, but the storm water did not in any way afl'ect the slop-banks. It is, however, unknown what other damage hits been done.
