GENERAL FARMING NEWS.
Tho annnnl Dominion Conference of j the New Zealand Farmers' Union will commence this morning. The president .(.Mr. J. CI. Wilson) will occupy the chair. Information received From a southern source states that, tho new settlers on the small Otago Central runs aro having a splendid season. I'rom present indications they should got a really good start. The autumn-sown crops aro looking exceptionally well. The present season, according to agriculturists in North Otago, is the most hopeful experienced for the past six years. In the Waiareka Valley tho ground is frozen for a foot down, and this is expected to have an appreciable effect on the grass grub and potato moth. All over tho district tho same expressions of hopefulness reach us (says the "North Otago Times"), and if the past season has been an except ionally bad one, that we are entering upon gives promise of making up somo of tho lee-wny. Dairy farmers must have strong serviceable and easily-cleaned cans. Victor is the name of the can that suits every requirement, and it pays handsomely to these cans and no others. Every lid will lit every can. Send for a catalogue to Albert J. Parton, Carterton* '».
