CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A HINT TO EXPORTERS. The Council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce met yesterday afternoon, Mr. H. C. Tcwsley, president of the Chamber, in tho chair. Messrs. H. G. Hill and W. ]■'. Cuthbertson were elected to membership. In the interests of all concerned, publication of the following letter from the. Department of Tourists and Commerce was authorised:— Referring to the complaint of the Chamber that "exporters of New Zealand produce to Vancouver, 8.C., being apparently unaware of the requirements of the Canadian Customs Department, Canadian importers of Now Zealand butter have been put (o annoyance and expense owing to the fact that but few of the invoices from New Zealand have been properly certified," the Department stated that "the Canadian Customs officers, owing to the failure of exporters to comply with the requirements in (his respect, have been compelled to exact the 'general' tariff in place of the 'preferential' on these importations. It is of course possible (hat Canadian importers have :>l- - notified individual Dominion exporters of the requirements of the tariff." Attention was aho drawn to a.
