SLIPS AND LAND-SLIDES.
4 WADESTOWN LINE BLOCKED. The city tramway traffic officers had an anxious timo yesterday looking out lor slips on the lines under their care. Tho upper section of tho Wadestown route ia temporarily out of action as a result of tlio heavy land-slido which came down in tho big cutting on .Sunday evening. Fifty yards of the line, or more, towards tho middle of tho cutting, are buried, and it will certainly bo some days before the obstruction can bo cleared away. The City Traffic Superintendent (Mr. G. E, James) stated last evening that it was impossible during the continuance, of the present wet weather to set gangs of men to work to clear the line. Moreover, spoil is still coming down at u considerable rate. It would take a couple of days, ha added, to clear tho line when a start had been mado under fair conditions, so that it is iiuita impossible, at the moment, k say when cars will Ixs ablo to run over iW full length. Possibly the hold-up ma) continue for a week. Meantime cars are. being run from the town terminus to Kidbrook Street. A small slip occurred yesterday on tho Brooklyn line, but it did not interfere with traffic. , ~ „,. A heavy slip came down on the Uut, Road yesterday morning, at a point about half a mile south of If a further fall takes place vehicular trafuc may be blocked for some days. Tho strong southerly gale on Sundaj ni"ht wrought some damage to overhead wires in different places. One wire came down near the city boundary, on the Mira-mav-Seatoun Head. The City Eloctrio Lighting Superintendent stated yesterday that damage to tho overhead gear so far had not been material. ■ Yesterday forenoon a. slip occurred on the Brooklyn tram line, at a point known as "Seagcr'Vloop." Workmen were engaged in keeping the track dear up til i 30 p.m., but tho task then got beyond - them, and the cars were compelled U use the single track. The work of clear- ; ing the accumulated material will be pro ■ ceoded with to-day.
