THE RACING CONFERENCE.
HON. E. MITCHELSON'S VIEWS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondents Auckland, July 23. Tho Hon. E. Mitchehou, president of tho Auckland Racing Club, who attended tho Racing: Clubs' Conference, states that one of tho most important questions discussed had been tho demand oi tho country clubs for increased representation at both tho confcrcnca and upon metropolitan bodies. Asked his opinion ns to what ho thought the result of the special committee's deliberations on tho question would bo, Mr. Mitchelson replied that he quiteexpected to £M tho representation of the country clubs increased to the extent of making it , equal to that of tho metropolitan clubs. At tho conference country representation on the metropolitan bodies would also, lie- believed, bo increased.
Questioned in regard to tho deliberations of tho conference upon the question of _ stipendiary stewards, Mr. Mitchelson said that the majority were strongly in favour of tho new system. He was of tho opinion that next year tho conference will carry tho proposal in favour of 6tipcn> diary stew.v.'ds.
