Boxing was the attraction at the Stadium last evening, members of the Territorial force engaging in a series of brief but lively encounters, over which .Mr. D. Sampson presided as referee. Little attention, was paid to the finer points of the game, and the prevailing tactics were of the hot and heavy order. Some of the bouts came to an abrupt conclusion. There was a fair attendance of spectators. Following are details:— Wilson v. Joplin (bantam-weight).—This contest lasted for three rounds, both men taking a lot of punishment, and neither paying any great attention to defence. Wilson was awarded the victory on points. Gunner Stewart v. Private Holmes (feather-weight).—There was some lively sparring as this bout opened, but Stewart at an early stage got in a smashing left on his opponent's car, and a right on his face. Afterwards Holmes received a succession of heavy punches, and was driven through the- ropes. In the last seconds of the round he recovered slightly. As the second round opened, Holmes was dazed by a punch on the side of the head, and spun against the ropes. "Stewart wins," said the referee, "1 don't think it is any use going on." Ingram v. Gooder (feather-weight).— Pretty even sparring ruled in the first round, but in the second Ingram showed superior footwork, and hit his opponent much as he pleased. At the end of the round Gooder withdrew. Private Stewart v. Private Morgan (light-weight.).—Both men shewed good form at opening, and exchanged punishing deliveries, but before the first round had run its course Morgan caught a heavy jolt under the jaw, and was knocked out. Jlc just failed to recover his feet in time, and the bout went to Stewart. Adamson v. Johnson (welter-weight).— Adamson got all over his opponent, from the outset. Johnson took punishment gamely, but was twieo knocked down heavily in the first round. Adamson, still quito fresh, met a badly-tired opponent as the second round opened, and with a straight lead knocked him down for tho third time. Tho referee forthwith gave n decision for Adamson. There was to havo been a final featherweight contest between Stewart and Ingram, but tho latter withdrew. EXHIBITORS' DAY.
