THE NEW TITLE.
Sir,—Kindly toll mo why there should bo such a fuss mado about Sir J. G. Ward's new title. Does the average New Zealandor think that Sir Joseph Ward can do more harm politically as a baronet than he has done as a K.U11.G.? H they do, then I must differ with them. The main objection, in my opinion, is that the taxpayer should be compelled to pay the enormous sum of Ji70,000 per annum for what tho late lion. John Ballanco and tho Hon. Andrew Fisher considered worthless baubles. However, if we are going to get a change of- Government, even at this cost, it will be money well spout.—l am, etc., J.B.
