DR. JOWETT'S SUCCESSOR.
THE KEV. GEORGE M'LUCIUE. The members of Carr's Lane Congro-. gatioiial Church, Birmingham, have decided to invite the Rev. George M'Luckie, of King Street' Congregational Church, Yarmouth, to'succeed .the Eev. Dr. J. H. Jowclt. For the first time in tho history of the church, the woman members were given a voice.in a decision of such imporlanoe. During Dr. Jowelt's pastorate the trust dee'ds were altered to allow .of their casting a vote, and on their behalf Mr?. Perkins 'supported' tlio resolution, whicli h;<d~,been .'moved by Mr. J. G. Hurst and'seconded by Mr. J. W. Howe, (hat the call'.lie extended to Mr. M'Luckie. The carried by an overwhelming majority'. .
Mr. M'Luckie, ,who has prenched on four occasions at Corr's Lane, is an Edinburgh "mani.. His first two-charges were in East. Lpndpn^and..two years'.ago he went to , Yarmouth,- where his labours, have embraced", a '.church lie'.' reorganised in the centre of the town, on the Hues of Digbeth Institute, which is such an important adjunct of the Carr's Lane ministry- ■ . f ' Dr. Jowett,. of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York, and formerly of Carr's Lane, Birmingham, has been given the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity-by the University of Kew York. ■
