Shareholders in the Mount Radiant mining properties (Wcstl3nd) met last even-
ing to consider the present position of affairs connected with the mine. Mr. W. Young presided. The meeting was private, but the following account of the proceedings \' - as supplied:— "A representative meeting of persons who have purchased from Captain Johnson interests in his Mount Radiant mining properties was held in Routh's lluildings last evening. A long discussion as to the position took place, when it appeared that there were some doubts as to whether interests being sold. and. sold, by Cautain Johnson, during the last two years, would be protected it the action which he had brought to recover possession of his leases should bo decided against him. All the shareholders present thought that the sale of shares should stop in the meantime, and that steps should be taken to secure replantation of existing shareholders before the Warden's Court at Wcslport during the hearing of the action above-men-tioned, anil that protection should be obtained for the rights of shareholders, whatever they may be. As the notice given of lest night's meeting had been somewhat short, and it was represented tint other meetings of shareholders were being held in other centres, it was resolved that She meeting adiourn until Monday week (July 31). and that a. special effort should he made to get in the YTanganui and Palmcrs.ton shareholders, so that joint action might be taken bv a body representative of all the shareholders in the Dominion. It was urged that every shareholder would be serving his own interests by attending., or authorising some other shareholder to act for him. It became quite clear to the meeting that, unless some steps were taken immediately, the shareholders might find themselves in the cold."
