(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! . Wanganui, July 19. The award of Mr. W. S. Short, Com-; tmssioner, making a new allocation of the cost of maintaining the town bridgo i among various local bodies is to hand, the commission was set up at tho in- > stance of tho Wanganui County Council. ; who sought to have their share reduced ' to one-sixteenth of tho whole, and hftvo; the additional burden placed on tho ; Ayanganui borough. The award reduces 1 tho borough's share slightly and alfo tho County Council's, and increases that of 1 tho M auzanni East borough, besides making tho Waitotara County, and Gonvillo, • and Castlccliff toko some small quotainstead of escaping as heretofore.' Tho cost will now bo borne as follows :--Wa-' nganui borough, 52 per cent. [ Wanganui county, 30 per cent.; Wanganui East, 10 per coilt.; Waitotara county and Gonvillo, 3 per cent, each: Castlccliff, 2 per cont. The award also djrects that llio Harbour Board shall not close tho bridge turntable, and shall bear tho cost of its' maintonancc. . •
