COAL VEND CASE.
SHIPPING COMPANIES' DEFENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. July 19, 10.30 p.m.) Sydney/ July 19. In the Coal Vend case to-day Mr. Campbell, counsel for J. and A'. Brown, concluded his address. Mr. Mitchell commenced on behalf of the defendant shipping companies. He declared that it had been shown that the Coal Vend was formed independently of tho shipping companies, who—except two or three also interested in mines—were not consulted in the matter.
