Yesterday morning, at the King's Road side school, committee-men and their friends, assisted by the school-children, wero busy planting. In all, about .WU plants and (SO trees were put in. Also, under the guidance of Mr. H. Baldwin (chairman o ft he School Committeej, hedge and shelter trees were laid, with a view to forming a garden at souio future date. Home of the trees wero bought out of the comuiittce funds, tho remainder being presented by Messrs. T. M. Wilford', M.P., and Cooper. Owing to the shortage of space, 110 planting wna done at the High School. Tho annual social and "Twelfth of July" celebration, in connection w.th (ho Loyal Orange Lodge (l'etonc branch), was held last evening. The hall was packed, thoso present engaging in dancing, cards, music, etc. Supper was served in tho commodious room at the back of tho building, the table and walls being decorated with embleniatio bunting and flowers. Bros. R. M'W'hirler, N. Sibun, and F. Thompson were responsible for an excellent (loor, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mrs. Sfubbs played the accompaniments and dance music. A sitting of the Ixjwor Hult l'olico Court was held yesterday morning, when Mcp •!•.'. reterkin and Chapman, J.l'.'s, occupied the Bench. Harold G. Pinnoek appeared on a charge of negligently driving a motor-car along the llult Road oil June H. The proceedings were the outcome of a collision between defendant's car and an express driven by Patrick Bryan. The defence alleged that (lie express had no lights, but this was contradicted by evideniv given by the police. After hearing evidence at some length, the Bench entered a conviction against defendant, pointinji out that lie should have taken siillicient caution to provide enough light to enable him to see clearly ahead.
