ATHLETIC—CYCLING UNION

THE CONFERENCE. The Exeeulivc Committee of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union met in tho Empire* Hotel yesterday, Mr. J. Kennedy (GerahlimO presiding. Also prer'.'iil were Mes-rs. J). F. M'kay (Otago); A. Han-en (Ellhnm). J.'Clark (New Plymouth), A. J. Fisher (Marlborough), and 11. Jl. Fra-ur (Timaru), secretary. . The president staled that so far no word bad been received from She Federal Council of Australia as to the agreement between tho union and related bodies in Australia. Ho then reviewed the position. lie added iu conclusion that a number of crack cyclists were coining lo Australia from America, and, if a new Federal Council could bo formed, it might be tile means of bringing over these men to New Zealand. Their coming would be Mire "to revive, tho sport throughout tho Dominion." As lo other matters, the date of the Duulop road raeo had been definitely fixed for September 7. The Dunlop pooplo had written, asking .for a donation. It was decided to refuse the donation. It was agreed, on the motion of Mr. I islier, that all runners, now under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Centre, who had competed at unregistered meetings prior to the formation of that centre, should bo granted a "clean -sheet."

The president suggested that the annual conference should be held at Auckland in January next, while the union championship sports wero in progress.— Carried.

The meeting considered an appeal l>v I). Campion against an award made at a sports meeting conducted by the Hibernian Society at Blenheim on last St. Patrick's Day. In refercnco to Ihe meeting called with a view to the formation ol' a National Sperling League, the president stated that 111? secretary (Mr. Eraser) and himself would attend as representing other sports bodies.
