Mr. Samuel Irwin, of Christchurch, spent three weeks on the Continent en route lo England, and is now in Ireland on a visit to relatives whom ho has not seen for thirty-four years. He. returns to London, going lo Ireland immediately afterwards for the Dublin Horse Show, etc. After another spell in England he means to tako a trip to New York, and will probably lcavo for home on September 29. Mr. H. B. Kirk, of Timarii, has been to Richmond, in Yorkshire, on a visit to relatives, after an absence of forty-seven .«nrs from the Old Country. Mr. Kirk returns to London, and intends after that to tour in the West Country, visiling Scotland and Ireland, tho Channel Islands, etc., and, if time permits, tome of the Continental cities. Urf may probably pay a brief visit to America. Mr. and Mrs. R. Twopcny, of Christchurch, broke their journey from New Zealand, and had six weeks in the Nile Valley, and a month's tour in Italy. They have taken a furnished flat in Kensington for the London season, and in August will probably lake a trip lo Norway, and another to St. Jean do Luz, towards the 'end of the year. Mrs. Dlanford; L.U.A.M., lalo nuisio mistress at the Wangauui Girls' College, has for some time, benn confined to her room with gastritis and tonsilitis. Thongh her health is improving sho has bceii told by her physician that it will he impossible for her to again lake up teaching as sho had hoped to do. Mr. J. S. Fox, of Okalo, who, with his wifn and three children, is now on a vis.it to Arbroath, his native place, will remain there for a few weeks, then devoting a fow weeks to a business tour. He reluine to Scotland for the balance of his holiday, and they all leave on their return to New Zealand on August 25, : Sirs. Harold Heauchamp, of Wellington, with her two daughters and Mr. Leslie Bcauchamp, lias taken a furnished house in Norfolk Square for the Ecason. Vailo has been busy within Ihe last few days in giving instruction to English people. on. various sporting matters. They hopo to visit theiy respective birthplaces in Kent and Cornwall, and then will tour in Scotland, Ireland, and the. provinces. Mr. W. C. Brmtmont, of Christehureh, spent a thort time in tho West. Country before coining on to London. Whilst in Bristol he stroked a liedclifT fI.C. racing four. Mr. Beaumont presently pes to Glasgow, Manchester, ttc, on business. Mr. David 31. Thomson, of Otago, is in England by way of Canada and the State?. After keeping, his eyes open for good cattle, his return will bn via Africa, whore ho proposes making nfi up-country trip to have a look at South African cattle and ostrich farms.

Mr. C. Hustings Bridge and Sir.- C. W.ray Palliser, of New Zealand, attended Inst week a. dinner given by the Council of the Surveyors' Institution to the Sur-veyors-General, who aro taking part in a ■ special conference on surveying a connection with the Imperial Conference. Dr. E. Henley, of Napier, who is accompanied by his wife on a six mouths' pleasure trip, hopes to do some- hospital work during his ttay in England. Dr. Henley will represent New Zealand at tho annual meeting of the British Medical Association at Birmingham in July. Mrs. and Miss Bridge, of Christehureh', recently returned to London after a year's lour oi' the Continent. They relumed, to Knglaud to meet Mr. Bridge, who has conic over for a short holiday in this country. Mi's. B. H. Ixiidlaw, of Slatakanui, Central Otago, has been on a visit to his native county of Selkirkshire. Alter a three months' stay hero he will return to th» Dominion.
