ROYAL VISIT TO WALES.

King George opened the University College at Bangor, and laid tho foundation stone of the National Library at Aberystwyth, which is to be erected at a cost of .Koo.oon. Tho King and Queen and tho members of tho Royal Family were the week-end guests of Lord Herbert Vane-Tempest, brother of the Marquis of Londonderry, at Plas Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire.
The National Library of Wales was established by Royal Charter, dated 1907. H has been housed in tho Assembly Rooms at Aberystwith pending the completion of a suitable building. Tno collection consists of 45,000 printed volumes and 1200 manuscripts, and is especially rich in early Welsh books, Bibles, and hymn-books. The oldest manuscript of tho "Holy Grail" and other Arthurian romance.;, and one of tho earliest and best manuscripts of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" are among tho treasures of the library. Aberystwith is also the seat of the University College of Wales, and a Calvanistic Theological College.
