ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
LITTLE BOY FATALLY SCALDED,
Tho City Coroner (Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M.) held on inquest at tho Wellington Hospital yesterday aflerncon touching the death of a little boy, John Walter Williamson, aged 18 months, who died at the institution early tho same, morning. Sergeant Wellington South, represented the police. . ; J'"rom the evidence adduced at tho inquest, it appeared that, about noon on Sunday, July !•, deceased was with 'his father in the dining-room of their resilience, 108 Tarunaki hired. the httla fellow left his father, and went into the next room, whero his aunt was proparing n bath, The hot water was in the both, and, whilo the aunt turned to get some cold water, deceased put both his arms in tho water, and was severely scalded. The injuries wero, tirst dressed with cotton wool soaked in limo water and salad oil, and then tho child was taken to Dr. Holmes's surgery, where Dr. Begg mado an examination, and ordered immediate removal to tho hospital. Dr. Brown, house surgeon, Wellington Hospital, stated that deceased was ad-, mitted to tho hospital on July 9 suffering from scalds on both arms, and from shock, no had previously been seen by Dr. Begg. For the first 24 hours after admission ho appeared to improve, but, after that, he "gradually became weaker from shock, and died ut 4 a.m. yesterday. A verdict was returned of death from shock from burns accidentally received.
