Shortly after 5 o'clock last evening tho Shaw-Snvill steamer Mntatua arrived at Wellington from Port Chalmers for Homeward loading purposes. She remains here until Tuesday nest, on which day she sails for Napier, Auckland, and London, making the latter her final port on or about July 24. MIMIRO FROM NEW YORK. Running under charter to the American and Australian Steamship Lino, tho Tyser steamer Mimiro arrived at Wellington from New York, via Auckland, yesterday afternoon. Tho vessel left New York on April 14, and called at Melbourne and Sydney to discharge cargo. Her voyago was uneventful, and moderate weather was experienced, with the exception of a series of severe gales, while running down the easting. From this port, the Mimiro, which is in charge of Captain Sherrington, proceeds to Lyttclton and Duncdin on Monday.

To-day the Canterbury Steamship Co.'s steamer Petone leaves Lyttelton for Wellington. She should arrive in port to-mor-row, and leaves again on Monday for Napier and Gisborne. From Wanganui, for which port slie left Wellington yesterday, the steamer Storm goes to Westport to load for New Plymouth. The Rimutaka, which left London on July 8 for Teneriffe, Brisbane, Auckland, and Wellington, has on board 500 immigrants to land at Brisbane. Captain Hemming is in command. Magic, scow, left the wharf, at Wellington, for Gisborne at 12.40 p.m. yesterday, hut was compelled to anchor in Worser Bay at 2.30 p.m. The "southerly" at the Heads prevented her from negotiating the entrance. At 2.30 p.m. yesterday the Government steamer Hinemoa arrived in port from her periodical visit to Cook Strait lighthouses. Repairs are to be piTected to the vessel's stern here. She will then leave for northern lighthouses, probably on Thursday or Friday next. On Monday the Anchor Line's steamer Knitoa is due at Wellington, from Nelson, for overhaul. She and the Pilot will be taken up on the Patent Slip during the day. •Mr. C. N. Willis, fourth engineer of the Maori, left the vessel at Wellington yesterday. Captain C. J. Lambert recommiesionod the Arahura at Wellington yesterday, and has all his former officers and engineers associated with hiiu. The Arahura sails for Picton, Nelson, and West Coast ports at 12.45 p.m. to-day. Owing to the laTge number of passengers booked to Sydney by the Moana yesterday, the Union Company had to apply to the Marine Department for a permit to carry 40 extra posseugcrfi. The request was granted, aud the, travellers are accommodated in No. 4 bold 'tween decks. At 10 a.m. yesterday tlie Mapounka left West-port in continuation of her journey from Grcyinouth to Wellington. To-day the vessel calls at Nelson, and is due in port this evening. Repairs to the disabled tramp steamer Feliciana are well in hand, and it is expected to dispatch her for Newcastle on Tuesday next. With a carffo of coal for the Westport Coal Company's local branch, the steamer Komata is to leave Westport for Wellington at midnight to-night. She will be here in time to make an early start on Monday morning. Three vessels of the Union' Company's fleet, now at Wellington, wilt leave for t/.e West Coast to-day. The Poherna- and liini proceed to Greymouth, and the Kaiapoi to Westport. Captain llendall, miilent surveyor to Lloyds, is at present suffering from severe indisposition. Yesterday morning the steamer Hohndale went ou the Patent Slip. At noon to-day tho F.-H.-S. # steamer Nairn?hire is scheduled to leave Wellington for southern ports, where discharge of her Liverpool cargo will be completed.
