COMPLETED RETURNS.
Throe months from the taking of the census the Chief Government Statistician. Mr. Malcolm Eraser, is now able to announce, officially, the population figures for the Dominion. • A number of details regarding, counties, borough?, ami cities are also supplied, and comparative figures of the two islands Vp to the present, any returns published have been compiled from Ihe figures, unchecked, supplied by the divisional enumerations. The total population of the Dominion, exclusive of Maoris, and the inhabitants of annexed islands, is 1.005.107. Of this number 531,858 are males, and 479,519 aro females. The Knri'h Island contributes 503,729 persons, and Ihe South Island 111,120. In 1000 the figures were: North Island, 170,732; 'South Island, 411,310.
